Louise Lawrence Luntsford (81), died in her home on June 12, 2019, surrounded by her adoring family. Louise was born in New Hope, Alabama on September 19, 1937. She was the 3rd child of five born to Willie and Lovie Lawrence. In high school, Louise was a majorette for the marching band and was voted most popular in her class. She married her husband, Ronald Walker Luntsford on April 15, 1958 in Rogersville, TN. They started their life together in a garage apartment in St. Elmo, eventually moving to Red Bank, where they raised their family. Louise and Ron had two daughters together, Linda and Lois. Knowing the importance of having a church home, Louise walked her two small daughters to the closest one, Red Bank Baptist, to attend Vacation Bible School. Her family made that church their home in 1966, and Louise would see her daughters, both sons-in-law and all 5 of her grandchildren baptized there. Louise was very active in the church, serving on several committees and a member in The Faith Sunday School class. After her girls started school, Louise went to work at American National Bank Downtown in the trust department. She loved her job and the people she got to work with and assist every day. After retirement, Louise and a friend gave back to their community by performing for nursing homes around the Chattanooga area. They called their act “Miss Daisy and Loosie Toosie,” and they would dance and sing to the songs from the 40’s and 50’s, bringing joy to everyone they met.
Louise is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ron, her eldest daughter Linda Owens (Scott), and her youngest daughter, Lois Whitmire (Rob). Louise had five grandchildren: Brittney Murphy (Cole), Kendal Cooper (Rem), Hogan Whitmire, Marie Whitmire, and Brooke Whitmire. She also got to meet her great grandson, Bo Avett Murphy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 pm and Friday from 10:30 am -12:00 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 12:00 PM.
