Loy Newton Tucker, age 93, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Loy was born in Jamestown, AL, on July 30, 1931. Eventually, his parents moved the family to Hixson, TN at a young age. He met his wife of 69 wonderful years, Barbara, in Hixson, married and had five children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Patrick and Marie Cressman Tucker, his siblings, his wife Barbara (who passed on October 20, 2020), his son, Paul Edward Tucker, and daughter Joane Tucker Wigle.
He is survived by Thomas Tucker, Daniel Tucker, and Randall Tucker; 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; sister (in-law), Belinda Joyce (Ted) Garrison; several nieces and nephews.
Loy was a general contractor who was the foundation of his family. He was a devoted family man—loving, supportive, and always puts his loved ones first. Beyond that, he was a genuinely good person—kind-hearted, honest, and respectful to everyone he met.
The family will receive friends from 12 (noon) till 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 28 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson. Funeral services for Loy will follow at 2:30 pm on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with pastor Wayland Stewart officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
