Margaret Ann Christnacht

Margaret Ann Christnacht was born July 4th 1941 in Chattanooga, TN. She was a life-long resident of the Chattanooga area. Margaret passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, at Alexian Brothers on Signal Mtn, TN.

She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School, Notre Dame High School, and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she was a member of Pi Phi Sorority. Margaret was an Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1974.

Margaret began her career as an elementary school teacher and taught at several local schools including St. Jude Elementary School, Siskin Child Study Center, Hixson Elementary, and The Bright School. She was also a long time member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Margaret was very musical and could play numerous instruments including the accordion, organ, and guitar. She was a natural on the golf course and was the 1966 Women’s All City Champion. She and her parents lived on and played at the Valleybrook Golf and Country Club in Hixson until her retirement to Alexian Brothers.

Margaret and her mother, Nell, owned a successful business, Margaret's Children's Fashions, in Rossville, GA for 35 years. Her boutique specialized in beautiful clothing and accessories for children where her creative talents were highlighted in her embroidery work and painted furniture. Her shop was at the forefront of the Beanie Babies craze in the 1990’s.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Mary Nell Crowe Christnacht and Frank Michael Christnacht, Jr. She is survived by her cousins and many friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her cousin, Pat Christnacht, former sitter and friend, Zofia Phillips, and the staff and hospice teams at Alexian Brothers.

A memorial and interment service will be held by the family at Holy Spirit Church and Columbarium in Soddy Daisy, TN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Holy Spirit Church Columbarium, a breast cancer charity, a children’s charity, or a kindness of your choosing.
