Marian Charlotte Smith, 86, of Dalton, Georgia passed away on January 13, 2017. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Dalton. Marian enjoyed reading and watching western movies. She was a loving wife, mother and friend that will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her spouse, Eugene Smith; parents, Robert and Pauline Burns; son, Johnny Smith; brothers, Robert Burns and Roland Burns. She is survived by her son, Dennis Smith of Dalton, Georgia; daughter, Peggy Gower of Springfield, Tennessee; sisters, Bobbie Crain of Falling Water, Tennessee and Barbara Sue Turner of Hixson, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 3 pm to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 2 pm with Rev. Neil Hasty and Rev. Walter Hair officiating. Committal Service is to follow burial after service at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
