She was born in Lorain, Ohio on December 22, 1933, to Clayton and Ivah Miller. She graduated from Lorain High School and was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She married Dick Hamill Simpson on September 18th, 1954. They lived in Lorain until 1973 when they moved to Chattanooga.
She loved decorating, so she decided to take interior design classes at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She loved decorating her homes tastefully with oriental accents. Most recently she collected elephants and was a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe. She was always known for her decorating talent.
Marilyn had an outgoing and fun personality. She never met a stranger and had lots of people who loved and cared for her. She enjoyed entertaining her friends and family. Her family was always most important to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She leaves behind her three children, Jan Rutherford, (Bill), Jay Simpson, (Wendy), and Jill McIntyre, (Michael). She will be missed dearly by her grandchildren, Tara Cofer, Corey Karimian, Bart Simpson, Jenna Simpson, Bryce McIntyre, and Brie McIntyre. She will also be missed by several great grandchildren.
She was a warm and loving mother who devoted her life to her children, and she will be missed tremendously. It gives them comfort knowing she knew the Lord and is now in heaven with him.
