Marsha Atchley Brumlow, age 75, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, kindness and melody that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
A woman of immense talent and grace, Marsha was a gifted vocalist and pianist who shared her love of music generously. Her faith was central to her life, and she was a devoted member of Oakwood Baptist Church of Chattanooga, where she served her congregation as the church pianist. Beyond her musical gifts, Marsha found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an exceptional cook and a proud, self-proclaimed “cat lady” who adored her feline companions. She was an avid traveler, along with her devoted husband, Larry. They enjoyed many trips to Destin and had recently completed trips to the American West and a train trip through the Canadian Rockies. Marsha’s creativity and thoughtfulness shone through in the beautiful handmade cards she meticulously crafted for every occasion, bringing a personal touch of warmth to family and friends.
Marsha was a proud 1969 graduate of Ringgold High School. She dedicated many years of service to the Hamilton County School System, where she retired from the Human Resources Department in 2021.
Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joyce and Paul Atchley, and her brother, Jeff Atchley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Larry Brumlow of Chattanooga; her sister, Beverly Atchley Stewart of Ringgold; and her cherished nephews, Thomas Stewart (Joshua Nguyen) of Los Angeles, and Dustin Stewart (Anna) of White House, TN. She was the proud great-aunt to Rowan and Callum. Marsha is also survived by her special cousins, Pam Barton and Susan (Long) Page; her best friend of over 40 years, Ellen Forgey Pruett; her “run around buddy,” Gina Hood Johnson; and many other devoted family members and friends.
The family also wish to thank Dr. Michael Dant and Dr. Dannis Hood for their excellent care and compassion.
A Celebration of Marsha’s life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM EDT, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Brother Ken Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday July 24, 2026 at the North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Marsha’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Educational Society in Chattanooga.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
