Marty was born on Signal Mountain to the late Robert and Lillie Bass. She was a 1959 graduate of Red Bank High School. Marty was employed with Erlanger Hospital for over 40 years in the Lab Department and then went to work for Dr. Demus and Scuggs after working at Erlanger. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” William Hixson; husband, William Rawlston Hixson;
Marty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and James Delaney; grandchildren, Jennifer Delaney (Josh) Hill and Robert Allen Hixson; great grandchildren, Emma Grace Hixson, Kaitlyn and Clifton Hill; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, March 13, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, at the North Chapel with Reverend Michael Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with Amedysis Hospice for their love and care given to Marty.
