She was born in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Rufus and Bertha McKinney. Mary grew up in the Chattanooga area and was a 1942 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School. She was an Airbrush Artist for many years with Success Portrait Company on McCallie Avenue. Mary was a member of Bayside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Julian C. Garner and John B. Chambers; three brothers and three sisters.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy (Otis) Phillips; her son, Miles Garner; five grandchildren, Chuck (Diane) Denham, Dee (Al) Harjes, Meredith Leastman, Miles Garner, II and Stewart Garner; seven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren and another due in August; sister, Patricia J. Mayfield; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, April 15, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service for Mary will follow at 1 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Raymond Kendrick officiating.
