She was born in Covington, Kentucky on March 15, 1945 to John Pohlman and Ann Gearrin. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1963, and a devout Catholic throughout her life. She furthered her education at Nazareth College in Bardstown, Kentucky and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology in 1967.
In September of 1967, she began her career for the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services where she spent 47 wonderful years. Her independent personality led her to work many part time jobs around Chattanooga, where she made many lifelong friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, John Pohlman; her mother, Ann Gearrin; her daughter, Rebecca Ann Gill; her sisters, Jolene Crane and Jenny Bryson; brothers, Fred L. Gearrin Jr. and Joe Guidi.
Mary Pat (Mud) is survived by her daughter, Amy Elizabeth Gill and god daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Doonis along with her sisters, Cathe (Rick) Faulkner and Angie (Doug) Wright; her brothers, Tim (Lisa) Gearrin, John (Sharon) Pohlman, Jeff (Dottie) Pohlman and Greg Pohlman; her brother in law, Charles Bryson; her sister in law, Becky Guidi; her grandchildren, Austin (Emily) Gill, Destin (Brooke) Shipley, and Kendall Baker; and her great grandchildren, Ansley, Silas, and Slade.
Aunt Pat will be missed also by many nieces, nephews and cousins; all of whom she loved individually and absolutely unconditionally.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 10th from 4pm -8pm and on Tuesday, August 11th from 10am -12pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, 5401 TN-153, Hixson, TN 37343. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 12pm with Pastor John Pohlman officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
A remembrance ceremony will be held on Friday, August 14th at 6:00pm at St Jude Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
