Mary Joyce Godsey

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Mary “Joyce” Godsey, of Chattanooga, TN on May 7, 2022 at the age of 74 years. She was predeceased by parents Lewis and Dorothy Godsey and brother Brent Godsey. She will be lovingly remembered by her niece, Kathy (Jim) Leamon of Orlando, FL as well as cousins Ron (Sandy) Long, Cullin (Mary) Brown, Peggy (Tom) Raines; and others including Tammy Kanipe and her children Kelsey and Hunter. Joyce was a retired M.S.W. professional social worker who worked for 34 years at Dialysis Clinic, Inc. in Chattanooga. She obtained her Bachelor degree from MTSU and her Master’s degree from Tulane, where she developed friendships with many. She was always a very loyal person and she had a special bond with a handful of lifelong friends. She enjoyed traveling and seeing new things, yet was always full of mercy and willing to stay home and lay her life down for others when she determined the need to. She could often be found expressing her love for others by cooking something delicious in the kitchen. And for Joyce, if it wasn’t made by scratch, it wasn’t worth the time to cook it. A visitation for Joyce will be held Monday, May 16, 2022 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm (est.) at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist – North Chapel, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson, TN 37343. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 1:30pm (est.) at Hamilton Gardens, 5351 Hwy 153, Hixson, TN 37343. Visitation and graveside service will both be open to friends and family.
