I first met Mary in 1964. Her parents were building a house next to mine in Hixson and I was thrilled to know that I would have someone my age to be friends with. In those first years, we were inseparable. We rode her chestnut pony, Thunder, all over Hixson. Too many stories to tell there. We secretly watched her older brother's college parties in the basement. We built tree houses and forts. I was very fortunate to have a friend who like to play in the woods and loved cats as much as I did. But the one thing that I admired about her was that she never hesitated to climb up the tree, jump off the roof, or do any thing else that I was hesitant to do. She was always brave and daring. I remember standing there watching in amazement as she picked the wildest horse in the field, walked right up to it, swung up on its back, and they were off. She insisted that her dad buy that crazy horse. And he did. An original No Fear gal.

Mary and I remained friends the rest of our lives although in the last few years we did not see each other often. We shared many experiences together. 

I send my deepest condolences to the family. Your loss is a deep one. In my mind, Mary is still out there riding that wild horse Pepper and having the time of her life with the wind in her hair and adventure on the horizon.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I have known Mary for a lifetime  as a part of a church family who have known each other for years. Our parents and grandparents were friends. We all went to Family Camp at the YMCA Camp Ocoee. My last memories of Mary are seeing her at the YMCA Labor Day Family Camp a few years ago.catching up on her children and grandchildren.  She was a very sweet person with a beautiful smile.  May God 's Love, Joy , and Peace be with all of her family .

Mary had the most beautiful smile and while I did not know her deeply I can say I consistently saw her in a good mood. She never had a cross word and never had an unpleasant thing to say. Her sunny disposition often reminded me of the old saying, that you always get more with honey than you do with vinegar. If we had more people like her in the world It would be a better place. 

Mary was one of my first cousins.  We lived within walking distance from each other.  We were the exact same age so we were in Elementary, Jr High & High school together.  We were more like sisters than cousins. While growing up.  We even took Dance Class together!  In these photos, I am on the end (far right) and Mary is 3 in from the right!  These “dance recitals” were at the Tivoli, and, as I recall, were were pretty terrified, but made it through the “tap” and “ballet” dances!!

Libby’s first birthday was such a fun and wonderful day! 

What a wonderful day, mom. Craig and I are forever grateful for this moment.

Mom, your love of horses runs deep.  We know you are riding a horse, Pepper, Smokie, or Gavin, bareback all over in heaven.  My first time on a horse was with you on Pepper. May your beautiful happy memories live on.

I love you mom, more than you will ever know.  May your beautiful memory live on in my heart, as well as Baylee's Andrew's, and Orlando's heart. We know you will be with us always.   My memories are of a beautiful life that involved the ones you loved most.  May my memories remind all of what an amazing mother, mimis, and best friend you are to us and your family.  

I remember Mary David (West) at Trinity-Woodmore UMC.  A very nice person.  The Wests were faithful attendees at the church.  I have fond memories of her parents and the family.  I am so sorry to learn of Mary David's death.  My condolences to her family.
