

Born 4thof July 1941 in Middle Valley, TN, died Monday, November 11 ,2013 in Hospital, after a fall from a ladder at his home on Signal Mountain.
Tony is preceded in death by his father and mother Ector Jack and Mary Lee Underwood also of Signal Mountain and his eldest sister Carol Faye Ensley of Atlanta.
Tony is survived by his sister Patricia Hughes; three nieces Angela Montgomery, Mary Jayne Hatfield, and Pamela Hancock; one nephew James P. Hick; many cousins from both sides of his family; several great nieces and nephews.
Tony was employed with EPB while talking flight instructions at Lowell Field. He earned his pilot license and was employed by Turner Const.
His next employment was with Lockheed Air Craft as a pilot in South Africa for 18 months, upon returning to the states he applied for employment with Piedmount Airlines and was co-captain until earning captain. Tony was employed with U.S. Air until his retirement. He loved flying and when he was younger, driving stock cars at the local tracks in Chattanooga and Cleveland, Tennessee. Tony loved 39 Fords and had restored several. He will be dearly missed by family and the many friends he has made thru racing, flying, traveling and his hobbies.
His mother and father were proud of his accomplishments in life.
His sister, nieces, nephew, cousins, and his many friends are proud to have had “Captain Underwood”, “Uncle Tony” in our lives
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 4-8 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel and on Friday, November 15, 2013 from 10 – 11 am
Funeral service for Mauney will be conducted at 11 am on Friday, November 15, 2013 in the funeral home chapel
Interment will follow to Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Gadston Alabama
