

Mildred Ellett Kersey, 88, of Hixson, passed away peacefully at her home on Wed., Dec. 28. She was of the Baptist faith and was a long-time member of Memorial Baptist Church in Hixson. She was a native of Tuscumbia, AL and a graduate of the Deshler High School class of 1945.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James “Buddy” Kersey; parents, John and Willie Ellett; daughter, Deborah Kersey Marcum; daughter-in-law, Anne Kersey; granddaughter, Leslie Andrews; sister Doris Jean Scott; and brothers Thomas Ellett and Jerry Ellett.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Shirley Kersey of Hixson; brothers Ed Ellett (Jane) and John William Ellett (Brenda); sister-in-laws, Rebecca Ellett and Janet Ellett; granddaughters, Julie Farmer (Tim), Christie Kersey Harvey (J.B.), and Jamie King (Matt); grandson, Jim Kersey; 9 great grandkids and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her caregivers and Hospice of Chattanooga for the excellent care they provided her.
The family will receive friends for visitation Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson, and again on Sat., Dec. 31, 2016 from 12-1 p.m.
A funeral ceremony to commemorate her life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 31, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with the Chaplain Christy Bonner officiating.
Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 Hwy 153 in Hixson.
