Hosein immigrated to the US in the 1940’s to attend the University of Idaho and the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Chattanooga to work for Combustion Engineering (which was later bought by ABB). Hosein also worked for TVA and was a retired Metallurgical Engineer. He was naturalized and became a US citizen in the early 1980’s. Hosein and his wife were members of a duplicate bridge club along with 5 other couples for over 40 years. He practiced yoga and meditation, and enjoyed stained glass design and wood-working. He read and wrote poetry and particularly enjoyed Sufi writings.
Hosein is survived by his wife, Ellen Rafiee; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Jill (Linn) Rafiee, Huntersville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and John Humphries, Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Jay, Macon and Joe Humphries, Joss and Tessa Rafiee.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 (noon) until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, at the North Chapel.
Services for Hosein will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to either National Parkinson’s Foundation or McCallie School.
