Molly Beth Mercer Saxon was born Dec 8, 1938, in Petal Mississippi, and went to heaven July 22, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was the firstborn in her family and remained a confident big sister to everyone throughout her life. Her childhood stories were of adventures around the farm with father, sister, and cousins. From her mother, she inherited love for music and skill as a homemaker. She sewed many of her own clothes and even wedding dresses for several family members. In 1958, she married Daniel I. Saxon and followed him to Kingsport Tennessee where they lived 65 years.Their son, Joe was born in 1963, and their daughter Regina was born in 1965. As a homemaker, Molly’s energy and work ethic were unsurpassed. She became a renowned cook, much like her own mother, and served especially memorable holiday meals. She was very intentional about providing her children with opportunities to learn and develop. Music lessons, Art classes, library visits, riding lessons, balanced meals, and church attendance were nonnegotiable expectations for her children. She also supported their interests as they matured, driving them countless miles between activities. Molly was an active member of the Nazarene Church, serving at various times as organist, Teacher, Bible Quiz Coach, cook, and hostess. None of those responsibilities slipped when she also re-entered College in her late 30’s. She eventually earned a degree in Dental Hygiene and continued in that profession 25 years. After retirement, she remained very active, including being primary caretaker for her Mother and Aunt until their passing. And she followed her grandchildren’s interests despite living many miles away. Her husband Dan enjoyed successful dual careers in Engineering and Land Surveying, thanks in large part to the support Molly provided at home. Even as Molly aged, she worked at whatever chores her abilities allowed, and even a few they didn’t. Her spunk and determination were legendary. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Molly is survived by her son Joe (Connie) Saxon, daughter Regina (Bruce) Zeiser, grandchildren Hannah (Caleb) Whitten, Daniel (Jess) Saxon, Sara Beth (Davis) Latimer, Ben Zeiser, and great grandchildren Selah Whitten, Noah Whitten, Adaya Saxon, Liberty Saxon.
Molly was preceded in death by husband Dan Saxon, sister Patsy Saxon, parents Durward & Gladys Mercer.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28th from 10 am to 12 pm at Southview Community Church, 1235 Moreland Rd, Kingsport, TN 37664. A funeral service will follow at the church at 12 pm with Pastor Bill Willis officiating. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Park following the service.
