Nancy Coats, 52, of Athens, Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, June 16, 2023. Nancy was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Athens, Tennessee. Nancy dedicated her life to Christian Education, homeschooling her 5 children and tutoring many others. She loved reading, music, and Christian ministry. She and Chris served as missionaries in Austria and were part of the team that started Word of Life Fellowship of Austria.
Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Larry Wiedenbenner.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 30 years, Chris Coats; her 5 children, Jilliann (Jedd) Davis, Millie, Will, Lenita and Andrew; 2 granddaughters, Sadie and Hadley Davis; mother, Judy Wiedenbenner; sister, Sherry Gregory; and 2 nieces, Layla and Sally.
A special thanks to the medical staff at Memorial Hospital as well Amedisys Hospice of Athens.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 19th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Athens, TN, 305 Ingleside Ave, Athens TN 37303. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm officiated by Dr. Bill Henard and Dr. Laverle Coats. Interment service will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson, TN at 4:00 pm Monday.
