A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, January 10 at Chattanooga Funeral Home, 5401 Hwy 153, Hixson, Tennessee 37343. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, prior to the service, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Neal was born May 20, 1952 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Richard and Hisako (Kuramoto) Teruya. He graduated from Butler High School in 1970 and from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1974. On September 4, 1976 he married Mary Lu Kiessling. Neal was employed as an IT Security Specialist with the Tennessee Valley Authority until his retirement in 2010. He spent much of his time in retirement doing thoughtful acts of service for family and friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, research of all types, shopping and spending time with his wife, children, granddaughter and friends.
Neal is survived by his mother; Hisako Teruya; wife, Mary Lu Teruya; two sons, Paul Teruya and his wife Rachel, Peter Teruya and his fiancée Allison Anderson; daughter, Elizabeth Teruya; one grandchild, Abigail Teruya; brother, Dale Teruya and his wife Mary Anne and several brother and sisters –in – law, nieces and nephews. Neal was preceded in death by his father, Richard Teruya in 2006.
