Norman L. (Buz) Parker passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 10, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary H. Parker, parents, Raymond & Ruth Parker, brothers Herbert, Don, & Larry Parker. He is survived by his sons Rick (Ella) and Ken (Jan), grandchildren Sarah Parker Newby (Chris), Daniel and Sarah Diggs, great granddaughters Tinsley & Madison Newby. He is also survived by brothers Jerry (Bernice), Terry (Nancy), and sister Brenda Faulkner-Sosebee, and several nieces and nephews.
Buz was born July 28, 1930, and grew up in North Chattanooga. He graduated from Central High School, where he excelled in Golden Gloves boxing. He served his country in the Korean War. After returning from military service, he was employed by South Central Bell for many years. Buz was a member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, where he served on the deacon and elder boards. Buz was a true family man who enjoyed taking his family camping and fishing. He was known and loved by all his neighbors as he walked his beloved dog, Sandy. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel from 4:00-6:00PM, with funeral service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations in Buz’s name to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
