Obituary of Orval L. Varner
Orval Varner, age 89, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021. Orval was a longtime devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was retired from Sound Engineering Company and was a member of the Local IBEW # 175. Orval loved operating remote controlled airplanes, and was a very active member with the Chattanooga Radio Control Club, Charter Club # 599. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Varner and several siblings. Orval is survived by his wife of 8 years, Eula Hodge Varner; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Keith Glover; grandchildren, Rachel and Charlie Glover; brother, David (Patricia) Varner; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9 am to 11 am on Wednesday, September 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A Celebration of Orval’s life will follow at 11 am on Wednesday at the North Chapel with his Pastor Darrell Coffman officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Orval’s name to Bethel Baptist Church, 634 Lullwater Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405. The family has respectfully request that "social distancing", wearing masks, and all CDC measures be followed at the funeral home and cemetery.
