Pat is survived by: daughters Karen (Billy), Linda, and Janet (Jim); grandchildren Jessica (Dusty) and Spencer (Savannah); her entertaining great-grandchildren Caroline, Hoyt, Kennedy, and Lyndon.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Ernestine, and her siblings Jamie Alday, Sam Payne, Barbara Cannon, and Woods Payne. She was a faithful member of First Centenary United Methodist Church.
She was a graduate of UTC and retired from the finance department of the City of Chattanooga.
Pat was a voracious reader, puzzle worker, movie watcher, Braves fan, Diet Coke drinker, and traveler. She enjoyed lake living in her retirement years and spent many happy hours in the water and on boats. She had many dear friends though her circle had grown smaller over time. She was a long-time volunteer with Girl Scouts, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank and was a supporter of the Soddy Daisy Community Library. She loved being a mom although we think being a great-grandmother was her favorite role. Pat relished a deep conversation and had a true interest in other people's triumphs and trials. She was very aware of social injustice and often prayed to be mindful of the needs of others and have the courage to do something about it. She dealt with several serious health issues during the past 10 years, but she was determined to maintain and share a positive outlook. She and Lynn built a strong, close-knit family who will cherish their many memories with grateful hearts.
Services will be held at 12:00 PM EDT, on Thursday July 2, 2026, at First Centenary United Methodist Church, 419 McCallie Ave. Chattanooga. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM prior to the service.
