Patricia was born on October 1, 1934, in Morristown, Tennessee. She spent 25 years in the medical profession at Centra Health and was a devoted member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, where she generously volunteered her time.
Patricia is survived by three children: Susan Short Beasley and her husband, George, of Madison Heights, VA; and Steven Forrest Short and his wife, Melissa, of Durham, NC and Diana Short Ellis of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Eden Hatch (Eric), Violet Ellis, Oliver Short (Mary) and Emerson Short and one great grandchild, Eleanor Hatch and several cousins.
A celebration of Pat’s life was held on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Adam White officiating. A visitation and light reception will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately after the service.
Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, October14, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixon, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
