Patsy Horne Helton was born in Wise, VA to the late Clyde Sr. and Emma Sue Proffit Horne. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport TN, attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, and graduated from Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing. Patsy was the Director of Nursing for many years at Parkwood Nursing Home in Chattanooga, as well as Lifecare Center of East Ridge and Highland Manor in Portland TN. She was an active member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene for many years, and later at Two Rivers Baptist Church/The Fellowship at Two Rivers in Nashville, where she was an involved and beloved member of the Bible Searchers Lifegroup.
She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 59 years, Edd Helton, and siblings Gaye (Jack) Tate and Clyde Horne Jr.
Patsy is survived by her children: Shaun Helton, Selena (Joe) Carlton, Sharissa (Will) Sutton, and Shana (Randall) Smith; ten grandchildren: Luke Helton; Elijah, Isaiah, Beylan, Reyna, and Hadley Carlton; Abel, Schuylar, Chloe, and Levi Smith; sister-in-law Joyce Horne, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Patsy had many talents and interests, but the greatest legacy she leaves is her profound love for Jesus and dependence on Him, and how that radiated through everything in her life. Her prayers, her example of faith and perseverance through trials, and her love, sacrifice and care for her husband, her children and grandchildren will live on in the lives of those she loved, and who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday, August 13, at Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 4400 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416, and a celebration of Patsy’s life will follow at 7 pm. Burial will be on Saturday, August 14 at 10 am at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
