Reid was born in Gainesville, FL and moved to the Chattanooga area in 1975. He worked in the Coca Cola business for roughly 30 years mostly in the Southeast. Reid was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and was named Elder Emeritus in 2018.
Reid was also very interested in the development of Christian churches and ministries in Africa and other third world countries. He gave generously to them for over 25 years. In addition, he supported various Christian ministries involved in the inner city. Reid was also well known for his involvement in spiritual healing. He was miraculously healed from terminal cancer in the 1980’s.
Mr. Henson is a graduate of the University of Florida with an MBA and also served as a Management Analysis Officer in the U. S. Air Force (1962-65). In 1969, Reid and his management team began work on the development of the L’eggs hosiery business which was declared the marketing, sales and distribution success story of the 1970’s. He also served as the Vice Chairman of a billion dollar Coca Cola Bottling Company. Reid was often asked to serve on ministry boards. In recent years, he has been on the Boards of several large regional philanthropic organizations.
