

In this last year Dick trusted Jesus as his Savior. For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourself; it is the gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2: 8 & 9.
Dick was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and grew up in Highland Park, New Jersey. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School and the 1950 class of Rutgers University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Dick served our country during World War in the U. S. Navy. He was a longtime resident of Milltown, New Jersey and retired from the General Adjustment Bureau. Dick was a longtime member of Christ Church in New Brunswick where he sang in the choir for 75 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 25, in Milltown. He has been a member since 1960 of the Masonic Lodge #294 F&AM, in Milltown, where he served as secretary for 35 years. Dick and his late wife loved to travel across the United States in their Airstream Camper and was a member of the Wally Bryam Airstream Travel Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anne Pray Best; a granddaughter, Rya Cokely and his parents.
Richard is survived by his children, Rick (Karen) Best, Nancy Best and Sally (Mark) Vastano; grandchildren, Rich (Kristen) Best, Carrie Best, Anna (David) Galindo, Jim (Briana) Vastano and Jenny (Robert) Conley; four great grandchildren, Gavin, Abby, Gracie and Rory; his second cousin, Hope Weidman; brother-in-law, Dr. Monroe (Marge) Pray and sister-in-law, Sara Peacock.
There will be no visitation or services held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga, P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416, www.hospiceofchattanooga.org or to a charity of your choice.
