Mr. Richard Schultz Cardwell

Richard S. Cardwell, 71, of Soddy Daisy passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

He was a born again Christian and a member of Lifegate Baptist Church. Richard loved most to spend time with his family, to read, to study the scriptures and to enjoy a good laugh. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 38 years as a machinist. Richard was also a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1961-1964.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Dixie Cardwell and sister, Betty Jean Smith McCall.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Debbie Nelson Cardwell; daughter, Andrea (Jason) Irvin; son, Jeremy ( Melanie) Cardwell; daughters, Susan (Doug) Jones and Cindi Cardwell; grandchildren, Haley, Sarah, Emily, Liam, Kelsey, Michael, Jade, Elijah, Zachary and Chloe; brother, Hugh L. Cardwell and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the North Chapel with Pastor James Dunn and Jeremy Cardwell officiating.

Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 9, 2010 and on Friday, December 10, 2010 from 1:00 until the time of the service at the North Chapel.
