Richard Leland Geren, a man of strong Christian faith, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, with his sister Diane by his side. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; sister, Diane Atkinson and husband, Gerald; son Mark Geren and partner, Karen Choquet; Michael Geren and wife, Julie; stepdaughter, Theresa Keith; grandchildren, Maura and Iain Keith; nephew Doug Patterson; niece Kelly Patterson; niece Cindy Louise-Higgins; as well as grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Billy Mae Geren; father, J.C. Geren; brother, Bobby Lewis; and nephew, Eddie Lewis. Richard was an accomplished engineer and draftsman at Combustion Engineering for his entire adult life. He was well liked and had a helpful nature and a knack for creative problem-solving. He enjoyed listening to music by Elvis, being in nature, and in his younger years spent days hiking and camping with his children. He cared for both domestic and wild animals. In later years, his favorite pastime was being a TN Vols football and basketball fan. He will be missed. There will be a visitation from 12-1 followed by a memorial ceremony on March 9th at 1:00 at Chattanooga Funeral Home in Hixson. Interment will occur immediately afterwards at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
