Richard was born in Toledo, Ohio and served our country in the U. S. Navy. He was retired from Crucible Service Center in Syracuse, New York. Richard was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Martha Mylek.
Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine Mylek; three children, Christopher Mylek, Mary Hurley and her husband Eric and Holly Ortwein and her husband Lee; two grandchildren, Alexis Hurley and Will Ortwein; brother, Stan Mylek, Jr.; and his loving pet, Tessie.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel with a prayer service to follow at 7 p.m.
There will be a private graveside service at National Cemetery with Father Charlie Burton officiating. Burial will be with military honors.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Amedysis Hospice Healthcare for the love and care given to Richard during his illness.
