He was born on December 27, 1936, in Keokuk, Iowa the son of the late Carl and Margaret Bevering.
He served in the U. S. Navy as a Photographer, retired because of a disability (hearing loss) and served as a National Cemetery Director for 22 years and retired from Federal Civil Service.
Bob managed a mobile home park and rental properties for many years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and was an avid coin collector.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Boyer Bevering; son, Mark Bevering; parents, Carl and Margaret Bevering; brothers, William, Carl Jr., Joseph Bevering; sisters, Geraldine Kutz, Elizabeth Meyers, Rosemary (Infant), Mary Lucille and Margaret Jean Dow.
He is survived by his four sons, Robert Jr. (Susan) Bevering, Michael (Wendy) Bevering, Bart (Karen) Bevering, and Dale Bevering, all of the Chattanooga area; a daughter, Marylou (Michael) Parris of Chattanooga; his sister, Rosemary (Findley) Glenn of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Tommy Bevering, Amber, Cori Rorex (Lance), Caitlyn, Christopher, Shelby, Lee Ann, and great grandchildren.
The family will gather with family and friends on Wednesday, August 19, from 10 am until 1 pm at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Graveside services, with Military Honors, for Bob will follow at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, August 19, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Pastor Paul Forgey officiating.
