He was preceded in death by his father, C. H. Davis, former Postmaster of Signal Mountain; daughter, Kelly Adams; and grandparents, D. V. and Ora Miller.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with forty-one years of service. A very important and honored event in his life was being awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroism in action in the Republic of Vietnam.
Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Glenda Marie Davis of Hixson; mother, Iris Davis of Signal Mountain; son Robert Scott (Theresa) Davis of Signal Mountain; son, Anthony “Tony” Davis of Denver, Colorado; step-daughter, Tina (Dale) Starnes of Soddy Daisy; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He will be missed by all who loved him, especially by those who fondly call him “Pap-Pap”.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the North Chapel.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Bro. Don Fergerson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 13067, Alexandria, VA 22312-9067.
