He was born in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Claude and Vashti Dean Gill. Bob served our country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Bob was an avid golfer and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Gunter Gill; daughter, Susan Elaine Roberts.
Bob is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Ken Smith; grandchildren, James (Carol) Dodds, IV, Alise (Steve) Duffendack, David (Tami) Roberts, Laura Roberts and Robert Dodds; 10 great grandchildren; sister Cynthia (Owen) Myers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Sunday, October 23, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and 10 to 11 am on Monday at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at 11 am on Monday at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, 612 James Blvd., Signal Mountain, TN 37377. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN.
