Roberta Sexton Newell

Roberta was born and raised in Somerset, Kentucky and has been a resident of the Chattanooga area since 1951. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield. Roberta was a longtime member of The Gathering, formerly Memorial Baptist Church where she loved to be involved with the children. Her life revolved around her family and church.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel I and Minnie Mae Sexton; siblings, Charles Allen Sexton and Stella Marie Holloway.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Harold L. Newell; children, Leanne (Ken) Morrow and William “Billy” (Lisa) Newell; grandchildren, Amy Michelle (Jonathan) Prater, Beth Newell and Casey (Sydra) Newell; great granddaughter, Charlee Cate Prater; siblings, Wanda Persell, Marjorie (Tom) Boone, James Herman (Barbara) Sexton, Pat (Fayrene) Sexton and Margaret (Dallas) Hafley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Friday and 1:30 to 2:30 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel.

Services for Roberta will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel with Reverend David Price officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
