Ronald Earl Bird

Ronald Earl Bird, 80, of Hixson, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2017. He worked at Dupont and retired after 31 years. Ron was a captain in the Army after four years of active duty in Signal Corps. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and Tennessee Tech University. Ron was a member with Gideon’s International Chattanooga Northwest Camp. He was also a member of Chickamauga Region Antique Auto Club and Walter P. Chrysler Club. Through Ron's avid interest in restoring antique automobiles he developed a collection of friends throughout the country. Ron was an active member of Central Baptist Church "Abba's House". He is preceded in death by his parents, George Earl and Anna Lee Ownbey Bird. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Cook Bird; son, Mitch (Wendy) Bird; daughter, Marsha Dove (Robert Johnson); grandchildren, Jacob Bird, Jonah Bird, Lauren Bird, Brandon Dove, Christopher Bearden; sister, Billie Ann (Pete) Brumfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity, Abba’s House Legacy 20/20 Building Fund or Gideon’s International Memorial Bible Plan, P.O. Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251. A visitation will be held at Abba’s House, 5208 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tennessee 37343 on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 12 noon to 2:30 pm. The service will follow afterward on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Abba’s House at 2:30 pm. A committal service will be held afterward at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are held by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
