Ronald C. McRoy

Ronald C. McRoy, 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away October 17, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Pendergrass McRoy, and his parents William Earl McRoy and Lucinda Payne McRoy. He is survived by daughters Penney McRoy and Pamela Lewis, granddaughter Megan Lewis, brother Bill McRoy (Gail), sister Charlotte Peek (Kenneth, deceased), sister-in-law Marilee Pendergrass DeBord (Franklin, deceased), aunt Maggie Payne Crownover, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Born and raised in Woodland Heights, Ronnie graduated from Kirkman Technical High School in 1960 and was employed with Mayfield Dairy for 42 years. Ever the optimist and always smiling, Ronnie’s positive outlook and sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with family and friends, bowling, square dancing, watching a variety of sporting events, and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers. Ronnie will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family extends sincere gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who cared for Ronnie in his final months, particularly staff at Rockbridge Oaks Senior Living Community and Touching Hearts at Home. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 21st from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, Hixson, and a celebration of Ronnie’s life will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Ronnie’s memory to the Chattanooga Humane Educational Society or the Pat Summitt Foundation.
