It is with broken hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Granny, Sheila Lindie. On August 12, 2026, at 12:23 a.m., Granny took her last breath here on earth and her first breath in Heaven, where she was welcomed into the arms of Jesus.
Granny was born January 10, 1950, and while Sheila was her name, to all of us she was simply Granny.
Above everything else, Granny loved God and her family. Her only daughter, Vickie Hubbard, was incredibly close to her, and the bond they shared was something truly special. Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and her great-grandchildren were her whole world. There wasn’t much Granny enjoyed more than shopping and finding something to spoil her granddaughter or great-grandbabies with.
Granny may have been tiny, but she was a firecracker. She had a big personality packed into that little body, and she loved fiercely.
She loved shopping, decorating and making her home beautiful. And it was beautiful. Granny decorated for every season and every holiday, always finding something new that she just had to have. She loved her flowers and had recently discovered solar-lighted flowers that she was adding to her collection.
She had also just had her back deck redone and made larger, and she was so proud of it. Of course, Granny immediately started decorating it and turning it into another beautiful little piece of her home. That’s just what she did — she made the spaces around her beautiful.
But the most beautiful part of Granny was her faith. She loved God. When life became overwhelming, she would remind us to pray about it and give it to God. That faith was a part of who she was, and it is the same faith that gives us comfort now.
There are so many little pieces of Granny that will remain with us — the flowers, the decorations changing with every season, the shopping trips, the things she bought just because she thought one of her babies would like it, that beautiful new deck she was so proud of, and her reminders to pray when life got hard.
Our hearts are broken but how blessed we were to have her.
She was a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, and to so many of us, simply Granny. And she was deeply, deeply loved.
The family will meet with family and friends from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, August 14, and 10 am to 11 am on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A funeral service for Sheila will follow at 11 am on Saturday at the North Chapel with Richard Floyd presiding. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
