She was a member of New Haven Baptist Church. Shirley was Accounts Payable Clerk at Chattanooga Corporation. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilkey Newson, McKinley Newson, Oby Newson, and Bobby Newson; and sister, Pat Frizzel.
Shirley is survived by her husband, H. Lee Hartman; son, George Newson; her stepdaughter, Tiffany Hartman; brother, David Newson; granddaughter, Jessica Brown; 2 grandsons, Austin Howard and Liam Ellard; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 5, 2026 at 2:00 PM EDT at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Broom officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM EDT and until service time at North Chapel.
