Shirley Ann McCurry

Shirley Ann McCurry, 82, of Canton, GA., formerly of Hixson, TN. died Saturday, January 2, 2016. She was born August 12, 1933 in Cleveland, Tennessee to the late L.M. and Anna Margaret Chapman. She was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Glenn H. McCurry and beloved sister Betty Rogers.

She was known to her family as Mom & MaMaw. She was a true Tennessee Volunteer and a mother that enjoyed being a homemaker, preparing three meals a day for her family. She loved keeping a decorated, neat home and entertaining her family and friends especially for special occasions and holidays. She always kept busy with family and friends. She loved keeping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, tending to plants & flowers, bird feeding and outings with friends and family. As soon as her youngest child went to school she went to work part time at several jobs to help with supporting the extras for children and grandchildren. She was voted wittiest in her high school class, therefore easily making lasting friendships until her death.

She moved to Woodstock, GA. in 2000, making many new friends and was a faithful member of Canton First United Methodist Church. She always had an ear to listen and made herself available whenever needed for all of her children, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include her children, Cheryl Nance, Jan Fuller, Chris (Kim) McCurry Pat & Joanne McCurry; brothers, David Chapman and John Chapman; sister, Harriett Runion; grandchildren, Jennifer (Gerald) Jones, Anya (Danny) Dupree, Shane Fuller, Jeffrey (Holly) McCurry, Luke McCurry, Billy McCurry, Natalie Finger, Sarah Finger; great grandchildren, E.J. Crutcher, Scout Fuller, Veda Fuller, Bowie Dupree, Cruz Dupree, Echo Dupree, Natalie McCurry and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews & friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9 at 3:00 pm in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Dr. C.R. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 Saturday.
