He was born on May 24, 1955, in Long Beach, California. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California, and he had a long career in the employee benefits and disability claim insurance industry, which brought him to Dallas, Texas, and Chattanooga, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joanne Catherine (McNally); and Joseph James Songy. Left to treasure his memories are Judith Songy; brother, John Songy (Sally); sister-in-law, Patricia Keith; special cousin, Kathy Korzen; and his so precious and beloved nieces, Heather, Brianna, Caitlin, Kailee, and Chelsey.
Steve was a friend, confidant, and extended-Uncle to many. Steve thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his family and friends, and his much-loved furry fur-kids over the years, Gracie Anne, Kelly, Bo and Flynn. We are fortunate to have been able to give him that throughout his last days.
A visitation with family and friends, followed by a Celebration of Steve’s Life, will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, starting at 5:00 PM, with celebration ceremony starting at 6:30 PM, at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
