Steve was born on June 5, 1945, in Fireco, West Virginia, to Claude and Edna Lewis. Throughout his life, he was known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family. He lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and quiet generosity, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Steve dedicated 36 years of his life to working for the railroad, where he earned the respect of his coworkers through his strong work ethic, reliability, and unwavering commitment. He took great pride in his work and believed in the value of doing every job with integrity. His years on the railroad reflected the same qualities that defined his life—strength, perseverance, and dedication to providing for his family.
Steve was a devoted member of Hixson Presbyterian Church, where his faith was an important part of his life. He found comfort and strength in his relationship with God and valued the friendships and fellowship he shared with his church family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Hoover Lewis; his children, Sandra Cooper (Nick), Steve Lewis Jr. (Angela), Richard Lewis, Rebecca Porter (Steve), and Lora Pierce (Jesse); his grandchildren, Sophia, Jordan, Emma, Dillon, Trevor, Ryan, Ella, Elisabeth, Emily, Elijah and Ethan; his great-granddaughter, Ellison; siblings, King (Paulette), Gary (Peggy), Jim (Nancy), and Doug (Jane); brother-in-law, Boyd Clark; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Nancy Hoover; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
