Mrs. Susan “Susie” Frances Dumsday of Hixson, TN passed away on September 5, 2021. Susie was born in California, MO on May 2, 1951 to the late Raymond and Pauline Scheidt. She was a proud homemaker, wife, and mother. Susie graduated from California High School in California MO in May 1969. In 1971 she married her high school sweetheart, Carl Dumsday, Jr. They were married almost fifty years and were best friends for 56 years since their first date at age fourteen.
Susie was a devoted mother to her son Justin Dumsday of Chattanooga, TN and her daughter Jennifer (Jenny) Dumsday Granger of Clearwater, FL. Justin is the managing partner in his architectural firm and Jenny is an IT project manager. Susie has four wonderful granddaughters which she adored. Allison and Ashlynn are college students in Tennessee and Mallory and Kaylin are middle school students in Clearwater, FL. Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable. Her husband Carl retired in 2019 from a career as a startup engineer and manager in nuclear plant and pharmaceutical biotech startups. Susie and Carl traveled the world due to his career and their love of travel which took them to Asia, Africa, Europe, and most of the U.S. states.
Family, friends, and acquaintances all recognized the natural, unassuming, unconditional love that Susie had for others. She never met a stranger and had the uncanny ability to find out anybody’s entire life story within minutes of meeting them. She always put the needs of others before her own. She leaves a hole that cannot be filled.
The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel in Hixson on Friday, September 10th from 4-7 pm with a rosary service at 7 pm.
