Sylvia S. Innes, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Friday August 5, 2022. Sylvia was a graduate of City High School. She spent the most favorite of her working years as a Flight Service Manager for Trans World Airlines (TWA). She loved to travel, and especially enjoyed vacationing with her family at their cottage in Northern Michigan, and with her husband in Barbados. She was an avid horse lover and over the years owned two horses. Another favorite pastime was spent in the garden following in her father’s footsteps as a grower and hybridizer of daylilies, during which time she produced many beautiful seedlings. She was a member of the Tennessee Valley Daylily Society, and was actively involved in daylily shows, both as an entrant and as a judge. She also enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Lone Oak Community Center Quilting Group. Her passing has left a deep void in the lives of those that knew her, and she was so very loved by all her family.
She was preceded in death by her 1st Husband Richard A. Payne and her parents Denver and Katherine Scott.
She leaves behind her beloved husband George Ronald Innes , her son and daughter in law Scott and Christina Payne, daughter and son in law Kimberly and David Ferris, daughter Heather Gunkel, grandchildren Hunter and Paige Young; Sydney Gunkel; and Brittney and Kiley Ferris, a brother, Roger Scott, and many dear friends.
A reception will be held in Sylvia’s memory in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Sylvia’s memory to the McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 N Access Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
