Ted graduated from Kirkman Technology School and worked at Combustion and Roadway Trucking Company.
Ted was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruthie Roberts Oakes, Clarence Corbett Oakes, brothers, Clarence William, and Mason Oakes, brother-in-law, Gene Edge.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Kim Hartline, son, Jeff (Davette) Oakes, grandchildren, Will and Matthew Oakes, sister, Hilda (Guy) Boland, brother, Bobby Oakes, sister-in-law, Betty Oakes, and several nieces.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 28 at the North Chapel Chattanooga Funeral Home.
Memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2013 at North Chapel Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Barry officiating.
