Thelma Alice (Howard) Christian, 100, passed away Saturday morning, July 7 in a local hospital. Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by her beloved family. Thelma was a life-long resident of Chattanooga and a member of Mile Straight Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Eugene Lee Christian and daughters, Shirley Angel, Wanda Smith and Thelma Jean Porteous and her son, Jerry Lee Christian.
Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughters, Judy Christian, Chattanooga and Joyce Palacios, Red Bank, Diane (Ken) palmer, Knoxville; sons , Danny Christian and William (Janet) Christian, Nashville; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4 PM to 8 PM on Monday, July 9 at the North Chapel. A service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday at North Chapel with Dr. Al Goss officiating; burial in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
