Thomas was born in Harriman, Tennessee and has been a longtime resident of the Chattanooga area. He faithfully served our country during the Korean War and Vietnam Era and retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant, with over 32 years of service. Thomas was a longtime member of Middle Cross Baptist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Richerson Castleman and Gladys Marie Holloway Castleman and a brother, Jack Castleman.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jane Adcock Castleman; two daughters, Pam Francois and her husband Gene and Cheryl Martin; five grandchildren, Becky, Eric, Stephanie, Tyler and Jaren and one great granddaughter, Madison; sisters, Carolyn Tidwell and Jenny Wilson and a brother, John Castleman; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday at the North Chapel.
A memorial service for Thomas will be held at 11:30 am on Friday at National Cemetery with military honors and Reverend Edward Gravett officiating.
