He was born in Hamilton County and was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II.
Thomas was retired from Ross Mehan Steel Mill and a member of Community Baptist Church on Signal Mountain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy James and Ellen Johnson Guess.
Survivors are his wife, Willow Dean W. Guess and a son, Thomas G. Guess. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Annie.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11 at the Chapel of Devotion at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Pastor Lewis Johnson and Pastor Glenn Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
