

He was born in Danville, Arkansas to the late Lee and Nell Chism. Tommie was raised in a military family and traveled during his childhood and graduated from Arkansas Tech in Russellville, Arkansas. He enlisted and served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he was wounded and retired after 20 years. Tommie was a Supplier Quality Technician in automotive manufacturing and retired in December from FormalD. He was a member of the VFW Post on Riverside Drive. Tommie enjoyed spending time with his wife, motorcycling, playing the guitar and loved woodworking.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cynthia “Cyndy” Chism; daughters, Theresa Lynn Chism and significant other, Sean Lowther of Worthington, West Virginia and Loucinda Marie Moore and husband Eric of Augusta, West Virginia; grandchildren, Brandon Michael and Luke Daniel Chism, Elizabeth Ann and Alex Hunter Moore; siblings, Jerry Lee (Letty) Chism, Billy Ray (Alice) Chism, Bobby John (Pauline) Chism, Linda Gale (Wayne) Bodin, Kerry Dale (Laura) Chism and Jessie Karl Chism and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday, January 10, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 1 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel with his brother Bobby John Chism officiating. Burial will be in National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
