She was known to all around her as "Ginny".
Born on April 3, 1941, in Bonny Blue, Va., to Charles and Bessie Miller, who were blessed with eight children; a very tight-knit and loving family. The Miller family moved from Virginia to Oak Ridge, Tennessee in 1943 to work in part with the war effort's Manhattan Project.
She graduated with Oak Ridge High School's class of 1959. She then earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Middle Tennessee State University, then continued on to earn her Master's degree in English from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

After they moved to Chattanooga, she secured her own classroom teaching position at Alpine Crest Elementary School. After having two children; she acquired certification from University of Tennessee Chattanooga to teach Physical Education, which she taught for the remainder of her career. In addition to Alpine Crest, she also helped other Chattanooga elementary schools with their P.E. programs and organized intercity track events and many other activities. Ginny retired from Hamilton County Schools in 2006.
She was a loving wife and mother who was instrumental in getting her children involved in sports throughout their childhood. She was always there for every game to cheer them on.
Ginny and husband Jim were life long Tennessee Volunteer fans. Especially the football and basketball programs. She also enjoyed cooking, growing flowers and attending her annual family reunions.
