She was born in Valley Head, Alabama to the late Carl and Gertrude Smith. Virginia was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Bobby Ray Mashburn; sons, Mike Mashburn and Tommy Mashburn; brother, Roy Smith Sr.; and sister, Betty Willis.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Don) Miller; grandchildren, Melisa (Brian) Wooten and Dustin Miller; great-grandchildren, Tavian Henson, Corbyn Wooten, Allie Miller, and Luke Miller; sister, Alice (Ken) Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Virginia will be held Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, P.O. Box 9, Hixson, TN 37343. A second visitation will occur Monday, January 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A celebration of Virginia's life will occur Monday, January 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM. The family will proceed to Chattanooga Memorial Park following the service, 501 Memorial Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
