Wanda was born in 1940 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She graduated from Chattanooga High School and married her sweetheart Fritts Reed Wattenbarger in 1958. They had been married for 63 years when Reed passed away in October, 2021.
They moved to Germany in 1960 where Reed served in the united States Army. While serving in the Army, they welcomed their son, Glenn Edward, in 1962.
The Wattenbargers returned to Hixson once Reed's Army deployment was complete and were able to spend precious time with friends and family. Wanda began working in the Chattanooga School District where she retired as a bookkeeper from Hixson Middle School.
In 2005 Reed and Wanda moved to Rosenburg, texas to be close to their son and his family. For the following years, Wanda enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and entertaining in their home. She was very loved and will be missed by many.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents James and Patsy Manning.
She is survived by her son, Ed and his wife, Katherine; by two grandchildren, Emily Dianne and Thomas Edward; by her sisters, Janie, and Libby; and her brother Mike Manning.
A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 3:00 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
A time to share memories and words of comfort will begin for friends and family at 1:30 PM.
