Bill was born in Chattanooga and his family has lived in this area for many generations. He graduated from Baylor School, then attended the University of Chattanooga. Bill retired as Division Manager from Durr-Fillauer Medical Supply with over 30 years of service. Mr. Tittle was on the Airport Authority Board for 15 years. He was Vice Chairman, then he served as Chairman for the last 3 years of his term. Bill enjoyed working with the emergency personnel in the Chattanooga area and retired as Chief of Emergency Management for Hamilton County. He was involved for over 18 years with the Riverbend Festival, where he was Chief of Security, served on the board of the Festival and was President one year. Bill was a dedicated longtime member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, where he served on several committees, taught Sunday School Class and was Chairman of the Administration Board. He went on several mission trips and helped built churches in Alaska. Bill was an avid boater and pilot. He loved to be a weekend farmer, hiking and his motorcycles. Bill was always available to help someone and served tirelessly during the tornadoes in the Apison - Ooltewah area. But most of all, he loved his family, church and his wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and Howard Tittle, Jr.
Bill is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dianne Tittle; children, Bill (Valerie) Tittle, IV, David (Karin) Tittle and Becky (Brian) Cox; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Sherry Case and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Friday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home and 2 to 3 pm on Saturday at St. Luke United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of Life Service for Bill will follow at 3 pm on Saturday, at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Evelyn B. Harris and Don Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3210 Social Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
