He was born in Chattanooga to the late Jim and Meredith Quarles Grant. William was a 1966 graduate of Brainerd High School, attended Tennessee Military Institute and the University of Chattanooga where he played basketball and baseball. He retired from the United States Army while serving our country during Desert Storm as a Medic and Operating Room Tech. William retired from U. S. Pipe where he worked for over 35 years. He was currently employed with Chattem Chemical. He attended Hixson United Methodist Church.
William is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Cheryl Kay Grant; children, William Edward Grant, Jr. and wife Robin, Kay Blevins and husband Travis and Meredith Bocian and husband Richard; six grandchildren; siblings, Jim Grant, Jr. and wife Phyllis, Nancy Grant Pledger and husband Tom and Greg Grant and wife Katie; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 6, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 7 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with Reverend Randy Martin officiating. Burial will be private on Wednesday at National Cemetery.
